The following is a link to the doctoral dissertation of Michael Goheen on the missionary ecclesiology of Lesslie Newbigin. He has a great discussion also with Alan Roxburgh over at Allelon on missional life emerging in an established church of which he was a part.

Keep up the good work. I highly esteem your heritage and rejoice in what I see here. Thank you for your devotion to Christ and your faithfulness to His Word and Mission.

Michael I am glad you posted this. I was just to put up a post reviewing one of Newbigin’s books. He was a man ahead of his time and maybe even ours, yet was able to look back and see the cross and all it means for the Church and the world.

I used these reflections on the eschatological dimension of Newbigin’s ecclesiology as my writing sample for PhD applications. Titled: That the World May Know: Newbigin’s Eschatological Ecclesiology of Mission and Unity. Perhaps it can enrich this discussion: http://www.jesusdust.com/2008/01/that-world-may-know-newbigins.html
